Decent Theme Documentation

Installation is a fairly easy process. In order to install your theme, first you must download the theme from our Dashboard. Now log into your WordPress site and perform the following procedure.

Step 1: Follow this path Appearance -> Themes -> Add New

Step 2: Click Upload Theme

Step 4: Now browse and upload the recently downloaded theme

Theme Options Panel

Decent Premium theme contains Theme Option Panel which is not available in the free version. In order to get to theme options panel, log into your site and go to Appearance -> Theme Options. Below is a screenshot:

Layout Settings

As Decent Premium theme contains many layout options. You can actually use theme to change the way your site looks or behaves. The first and foremost layout option is to change the width of your site. Decent Premium theme has 2 types of layout modes:

  1. Full-width (Premium Only)
  2. Boxed Mode

In order to change the layout mode you must go to Theme Options -> Basic Settings -> Layout Mode

Sidebar (Type): Another very important layout option is to select whether you want a right sidebar or left sidebar. Decent Premium theme allows either of the two types to be selected and implemented. In order to change the Type of sidebar you want to use, you must go to Theme Options -> Theme Layout -> Theme Layout

Sidebar (Width): After setting the sidebar type, it is a good idea to setup the sidebar width. In order to change the default sidebar width you must go to Theme Options -> Theme Layout -> Primary Sidebar (Size)

Q. How many sidebars Decent Premium Theme Support?
A. Decent Premium Theme support 4 sidebars which are categorized as:

  1. Primary Sidebar (can be floated to left/right)
  2. Footerbox Sidebar #1 (appears in the footer)
  3. Footerbox Sidebar #2 (appears in the footer)
  4. Footerbox Sidebar #3 (appears in the footer)

Q. Where can I manage Decent Theme menu?
A. The menu of decent theme can be managed in Appearance -> Menus

Q. Does Decent Premium theme support custom widget?
A. Yes and they are explained later in this documentation.

With Decent Premium theme you can setup site logo and favicon with ease. By default, your site-name is displayed in place of site logo. In order to replace it with a logo image, you must perform the following steps.

How to setup Site Logo

Step 1: Go to Theme Options -> Basic Settings -> Logo Image
Step 2: Click Upload and choose/upload the image you want to use as logo
Step 3: Click Save Options

Other Settings related to Site Logo

Step 1: Go to Theme Options -> Header Settings
Step 2: There you will see more options related to Site Header described below:

  1. Hide Header: Checking this will hide Theme’s Header.
  2. Hide Site Description: Checking this will hide Theme’s Header.
  3. Site Title Font: This font applies to the site title text.
  4. Site Description Font:This font applies to the site description text.
  5. Site Title Color: Changes the color of the site title.
  6. Site Description Color: Changes the color of site description.
  7. Site Title Size: Change the font size of site title.
  8. Site Description Size: Chane the font size of site description.

How to setup Favicon?

Favicon is a small icon that appears in your browser’s title bar. Here is how to setup Favicon using Decent Premium Theme.

Step 1: Go to Theme Options -> Basic Settings -> Favicon Image
Step 2: Click Upload and choose/upload the image you want to use as favicon

Custom Widgets

This theme comes equipped with three custom widgets which help you in enhancing your site’s display and functionality. These widgets are like other in-built WordPress widgets, very easy to configure and you don’t need more that basic knowledge of WordPress to manage theme. In order to add a widget to your site go to Appearance -> Widgets. Below we have provided an explanation on how to use our widgets.

Decent Recent Posts

This widget displays thumbnail with the post links. In order to use this custom widget, you need to go to widgets section and then add Decent recent posts widget to the sidebar.

As you can see that this widget brings the functionality of displaying thumbnails with post URLs with ease and little options. You can just add it to the sidebar and it will start working. But if you want to configure this widget you must use the options provided in the widget (Explained below).

Decent Social Icons Widget

This widget displays social icons linking to your social profiles. In order to use this custom widget, you need to go to widgets section and then add Decent Social Icons widget to the sidebar.

As you can see that this widget is so beautiful, it is again very easy to configure with an amazing feature of `priority`. Before we explain what is priority just take a look at other options of this widget.

Google Analytics

Decent Premium Theme allows you to track your website traffic with ease. All you need to do is to just insert your Google Analytics Javascript code in Theme Options -> Google Analytics and this code will be automatically inserted into the theme.

Note: You can also insert any other JavaScript code in this box if needed.

Custom CSS

Use this section only if you are well versed with CSS styling. You can put your custom CSS styles in Theme Options -> Custom CSS. It is recommended that you use this section rather than editing style.css directly.

Theme Options (List)

Basic Settings

Select Skin: Change the skin to modify theme colors.
Layout Mode: Change the layout mode of your theme between boxed mode or full-width mode.
Logo Image: Here you can upload the logo of your site.
Favicon Image: Favicon Image of your site. See reference What is a Favicon? & Where are Favicons displayed?
Organization Name: This will be shown in the Theme’s footer.
Show Copyright: Check this to show the Copyright information in the Theme’s footer

Layout Settings

Theme Layout: Choose theme layout from the given options.
Primary Sidebar (Size): Change the width of the Primary sidebar.(Best Practise: Keep it less than 50%)
Copyright Type: Changes the type of copyright information shown in Footer.
Custom Copyright: If you have selected Custom Copyright then type your text here.
Hide Footer: Checking this will hide Theme’s Footer.
Hide Menu: Checking this will hide Primary Menu.
Disable Full Posts:(Blog) Check this to show post excerpts rather than full posts on Homepage and other Archive pages.
Float Thumbnail:(Blog) You can float your thumbnail to either right or left on the blog page.
Hide Thumbnail:(Blog) Checking this will hide post thumbnail from the blog page.
Hide Read more button:(Blog) Checking this will hide read more button below posts.

Header Settings

Hide Header: Checking this will hide Theme’s Header.
Hide Site Description: Checking this will hide site description from the header.
Site Title Font: This font applies to the site title text.
Site Description Font: This font applies to the site description text.
Site Title Color: Changes the color of the site title.
Site Description Color: Changes the color of site description.
Site Title Size: Change the font size of site title.
Site Description Size: Chane the font size of site description.

Font Settings

Primary Font: Primary font of the site.
Secondary Font: Secondary font of the site.

Color Settings

Post Title Color:(blog) Changes the post title color only on blog page.
Post Meta Color:(blog) Changes the post meta color only on blog page. (means: information about date/comments/author etc.)
Post Content Color:(blog) Changes the post content color only on blog page.
Post Title Color:(post/page) Changes the post title color on posts/page.
Post Meta Color:(posts) Changes the post meta color on single posts.
Post Content Color:(page/posts) Changes the post content color on single posts.(means: color for <p> tag.)
Footerbox background color: The background color of footerbox. (Note: Footerbox contains 3 sidebars and the background color of all 3 sidebars will also be changed.)
Footer Background Color: The background color of footer (section that contains copyright information).
Footer Color: The text color of footer (section that contains copyright information).
Footer Social Icon Background Color: The background color of social icons in the footer (section that contains copyright information).
Footer Social Icon Color: The color of social icons in the footer (section that contains copyright information).

Social Icon Settings

Hide Social Section: Checking this will hide Social Section.
Facebook Profile: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
Twitter Profile: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
Google+ Profile: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
Linkedin Profile: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
Instagram Profile: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
Pinterest Profile: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
Tumblr Profile: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
Dribbble Profile: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
YouTube Channel: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
RSS Feed: Include http:// or https:// with the URL.
